Some safety tips to using a Fast Plug

• Ensure the Fast Plug is FULLY ENGAGED with the box (aka the female-end) when picking up drill pipe. This means the threads are fully inserted and cannot be seen.
• To verify the threads are fully inserted, twist the Fast Plug clockwise while it is engaged in the box until it no longer turns.
• Safety spring: Keep stretched to 6 inches.
• Frequent Cleaning and greasing "inside the taper" is a must.
• Keep out of "danger zone" at end of pipe rack (see safety tag).
• Keep clean of dirt and mud.
• Recommended life of a Fast Plug is 2 years of constant use.
• Replace Fast Plug When:
  • Thread looks worn or smooth
  • Shank looks worn
  • Fast Plug beings to fit loosely in pipe box.
